Boisset-Saint-Priest

Boisset -Saint -Priest is a commune with 1164 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the Loire department in the Rhône -Alpes. It belongs to the canton of Saint -Jean- Soleymieux and the Local Government Association, Loire Forez.

Geography

Boisset -Saint -Priest is in the ridge of the Monts de Forez, 63 kilometers southwest of Lyon, about 26 kilometers northwest of Saint- Étienne, 11 kilometers northwest of Saint -Just- Saint -Rambert and 5.2 kilometers northeast of the cantonal capital of Saint- Jean- Soleymieux, between the neighboring communities Margerie Chantagret in the northwest, southwest and Chenereilles in Saint -Marcellin -en- Forez in the southeast. The river flows north and the ozone Mare south of the town center by the municipality.

History

In the Middle Ages the village consisted of two parishes. The older of the two parishes was Saint -Priest -en- Vousset (also Saint -Priest -en- Rousset called ), the church was built in the 12th century. Saint -Priest -en- Vousset belonged to the fief of Saint -Marcellin (now Saint -Marcellin -en- Forez ). The other parish was Boisset, but Boisset -en- Montsupt was called because it belonged to the fief Montsupt, which is part of Saint -Georges -Haute -Ville today then. 1793, the districts of Saint -Priest and Boisset were in the wake of the French Revolution ( 1789-1799 ) summarized (as Boisset Priest ), were given the status of a municipality and 1801 (under the present name ) the right to local self-government.

Attractions

The Romanesque church of Saint -Priest, the saint and bishop of Clermont Prikt (also Præjectus, January 25 † 676 ) is dedicated, was built in the 12th century. It was enlarged in the 15th century. In 1960 it was restored and given a new roof. The cemetery was leveled, now located in its place a space.

The Church of Boisset was built in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style.
