Bolaven-Plateau

The Bolaven Plateau is a 1,200 meters high and 10,000 km ² large plateau in Laos.

The plateau is located largely in the province of Champasak. On the plateau, different ethnic groups belonging to the Mon-Khmer language family life. With around 50,000 people, the largest group is that of the lavas. According to them, the plateau was named ( Bolaven = home of the Laven ). In the region agriculture is mainly: crops are rubber, cardamom, pepper, green tea and coffee, which nationally provides meaning to the plateau.

The Tad Fane (the highest with 120 meters waterfall in Laos ) and the waterfalls Tad Phasuam, Tad Lo, Tad E -Tu, Tad and Tad Champee Nyuang are located in the Bolaven Plateau.

During the Second Indochina War, the region was heavily bombed during air raids of the U.S. Army, because there were parts of the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The main town of the area, Pakxong, it was completely destroyed.
