Bolek Polívka

Boleslav Polivka ( born July 31, 1949 in Vizovice ) is a Czech actor, playwright and stage designer.

Life

Polivka studied in Brno at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno ( JAMU ), was one of the founders in 1972 of the Brno Theatre Na provázku and became one of the most famous personalities associated with this venue. In 1993 he founded his own theater in Brno. Polivka is one of the most prominent representatives of Czech pantomime, he sat rolls around in theater, film and television.

For his pantomime productions in which he also directed, and the main characters took over, ( Am a Ea, Pezza versus Čorba, Pépe, Trosečník, Poslední LEC, Šašek a královna ), he was inspired by art of clowning, commedia dell'arte and the slapstick inspired, but uses words and intentionally exceeds genre boundaries lead to total Schauspielertum. Recognition was given to him by his style; he collaborates with theaters and artists from abroad.

For the role of the priest in the movie Holý zapomenuté světlo he won the Czech Lion and won the 1997 award for acting performance on the Mezinárodní Filmový festival Karlovy Vary. The second Czech Lion he received for his role in January Hrebejk film Musíme si pomáhat, which was furthermore nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Foreign Language Film. He participated in films by director Věra Chytilová, among other Kalamita (1981 ), on the film adaptation of his own spectacle Šašek a královna ( 1987) and on the comedy dědictví aneb Kurvahošigutntag (1992). In the Czech television series run its Máñez Bolka Polívky and Bolkoviny.

Polivka as a passionate rider depends on his farm in Olšany at Vyškov events from, including the World Championship in Shotgun - to - grain - throwing. With three different women he has three children; long time he was romantically involved with French actress Chantal Poullain. His daughter Anna Polívková is also an actress.
