Boleslaus III, Duke of Bohemia

. Boleslav III the Red, Czech: Ryšavý ( * before 999; † 1037 in Poland) was 999-1002 Duke of Bohemia from the dynasty of Přemyslids.

Life

Boleslav III. was the eldest son of Boleslav II. Soon after the takeover of the reign he came into conflict with his brothers Jaromir and Oldrich, who fled before him to Regensburg. Since his entourage soon rose up against him, he sought help, the first Marquis of Nordgaues Henry, later the first Polish king Bolesław I the Brave, by means of which he repressed Jaromír and briefly 1003 again came to power.

According to a new uprising of his retinue ( after the murder of his son ) I. Brave he was (later in Bohemia Boleslav IV ) captured, brought to Krakow and blinded by the Polish king Bolesław there. He died in 1037 in captivity.
