History

1901 Bolivar was introduced by the company, based in Havana, José F. Rocha in the market. In the fifties of the 19th century, the brothers Rafael and Ramón Cifuentes took over the production. Among them, the brand was well known outside of Cuba. After the Cuban Revolution, the Cifuentes family fled to the Dominican Republic, the production in Cuba was taken over by means of nationalization by Habanos SA. The Cifuentes family took their cigar production in the Dominican exile again and since then has been with the brand name cigars Bolivar and Partagas for the American market forth. In Germany, however, only the Cuban Bolivar cigars are available.

Production

The cigars are now produced exclusively in the manufacture " Partagas ". By 2003, they were also produced in the factory " La Corona", but this had to be closed due to the poor structural condition. Today, all formats of Bolivar " totalmente a mano ", ie made ​​entirely by hand.

Origin of the name

The name commemorates the leaders of Latin American independence movement Simón Bolívar. Whose portrait still decorates her belly bands and the Vistas on the cigar boxes that mark.
