Bolt cutter

A bolt cutter is a pair of pliers for the manufacturing process of separating metal during cutting of metal in the form of bolt cutters ( in Dtl. According to DIN 8588 ). Most is meant a human-powered with both arms portable version.

Area of use

Separately, usually cylindrically shaped workpieces such as pins, wires, bolts and rivets.

Operation

A mechanical translation allows it to work through budget heading the lever with little effort.

More powerful alternatives

For the cutting of larger cross-sections or more solid materials, correspondingly powerful bolt cutters are manufactured. Hydraulic cutters as they are, for example, to the rescue of the fire brigade and used in Germany for Technical Relief (so-called hydraulic rescue set ) may also separate solid objects without the dangerous sparks an angle grinder to be used alternatively.

Further, there are also pneumatic bolt cutters, they work faster than hydraulic cutter.
