BOMAG

The BOMAG ( Bopparder engineering company ) is the world market leader in the field of Compaction Technology and produces machines for soil, asphalt and refuse as well as stabilizers / recyclers. Its headquarters, the company has Bopparder local district Buchholz. Since the takeover by Fayat 2005 BOMAG also offers asphalt pavers and cold milling on under his name.

History

The BOMAG was founded in 1957 in Boppard double garage by Karlheinz Schwamborn and developed in the same year with a double drum vibratory roller, referred to as BW 60 Allbandagenantrieb with a new design for the compression technique.

In 1962, BW 200 was the first 7t double drum vibratory roller in the world presented. In 1961 the first international branch was opened BOMAG in Austria, followed by 2002 offices in China, the U.S., France, Italy, Great Britain, Canada, Japan and Hungary.

1970 Schwamborn sold his company to the U.S. company Koehring.

As the place at its headquarters in Boppard was no longer sufficient, you settled in 1969 in the industrial area Hellerwald near the district of beech wood to its present site on. There, seven years later was also a research center. 1982, the operation was extended by 7,000 m² of floor space for the mechanical manufacturing and steel construction, four years later another area totaling 10,000 m² for the assembly, testing and painting of large machines has been built. A powder coating plant for coloring was built in 1997, a new plant expansion by 9,000 m² took place in 1998.

1988, the first fully hydraulic trash compactor has been developed. 2001 ASPHALT MANAGER ( registered trademark of BOMAG GmbH ), a system for compressing and concurrent compaction control was presented on asphalt.

Koehring sold his shares to BOMAG 2001 to the U.S. SPX Corporation, which in turn sold the company in 2005 to the French group Fayat.

For 2009, the BOMAG had planned to put the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the modern drum factory in the world. Due to the current economic crisis, it has been postponed indefinitely. In July 2009, of which around 160 BOMAG Boppard at the site announced that it would cancel some 320 locations worldwide. Reason for the job cuts are massive sales declines of about 50 percent this year. In 2011, the Company acquired 90,000 square meters of industrial parks Hellerwald II, to increase its lying in Hellerwald I production. It announced that around 21.5 million euros in the announced 2009 bandages factory.

On the three -yearly trade fair for construction equipment ( Bauma ) BOMAG regularly presents its innovations. So BOMAG was already represented a year after the company was founded at Bauma 1958, although the first BOMAG machine at all, the hand-held BOMAG tandem roller BW 60 Since then the company has been present on every Bauma and every great innovation of BOMAG was also presented at Bauma.

In the last 20 years, these were for example: 1992 BW 80 AD, a light tandem roller in which the operator's seat was replaced on the front frame by the seat on the rear frame. This was for all manufacturers in the coming years worldwide standard. The Tandem Rollers BW 100 and BW 120 first came with a vibration-isolated operator's platform. In the rolling trains up to 50 % gradeable PDH rolling trains were presented. The large reversible vibratory plate BPR was also presented 75/60 D.

1995 was presented with the BCM, the BOMAG Compaction Measurement, at Bauma a measurement system for major projects that was based on, introduced in 1982 Terrameter. The Terrameter was a measurement system that made it possible to control the compression quality of the soil during the work. For the first time knew Contractors, when the ground under the machine was perfectly compacted and more transitions with the machines are unnecessary. It was the world's first system of its kind

At Bauma 1998 VARIOCONTROL followed for rolling trains. This made it possible to automatically adjust the compression energy of the compression and deformation condition of the respective floor. At Bauma 2001 he BOMAG ASPHALT MANAGER, with the rules, the compaction of asphalt not only automatically, but also made to measure. Also in 2001, were presented the new small drum rollers BW 124 and BW 145 and the heavy trash compactor BC 972

2004 Tandem Rollers BW 100/120 AD and the combination rollers 100/120 AC have been technically revised, a new generation reversible vibratory plates came on the market, as well as new heavy duty tandem rollers BW 141/151 AD and a new generation stool steered rollers.

2013 BOMAG won a design award ( Red Dot Design Award ) for the articulated tandem roller BW 141 AD.
