Bone state

Bone or bonuses was a sultanate on the southwest peninsula of Sulawesi, now part of Indonesia. Covering an area of 2600 km ², Bones capital Watampone was 130 km northeast of the city of Makassar and was home to the Bugis.

Once the most powerful state of Sulawesi, bonuses came in 1666 under Dutch influence, as it tried to inter alia the neighboring warring states the Kingdom of Gowa and Tallo to protect. Until 1814 bonuses remained under control of the Dutch. Although the British won a temporary power over the region, but in 1816 the city was returned to the Netherlands. This influence bonuses defied increasingly. Many Dutch expeditions to bonuses during the 19th century have been prevented. Bonuses fell after the independence of Indonesia.
