Boom Festival

The Boom Festival is taking place in Portugal in Idanha -a-Nova circle Biennale. The festival features music, painting, sculpture, video art, cinema, installations, theater and a concept of crossovers of different art forms. The first Boom Festival was held in 1997, with electronic music had the greatest impact, while at present it is a multidisciplinary event. First planned as Psytranceveranstaltung, there were two areas: a dance floor and a chill-out area. Boom now incorporates a 'Sacred Fire' stage for world music, acoustic sets and live bands; 2008, the ' Groovy Beach' stage was taken to present them in the program to include contemporary genres of electronic music, including Dubstep, Breakbeat, Techno and Minimal. In addition to the musical development and the influence of other media, including an art gallery, natural sculpture, street theater and fire dance grew. In addition, can be found in the Liminal Village a great shady place, where lectures, yoga, movies, meditation and discussions are held.

Principle

The self- representation, according to the organizers, it is boom focus to develop a sustainable ethos by the wide range of arts and culture side by side. The Boom is world renowned for its non- entertainment industry designed approach. The festival is multicultural and attracts visitors from all continents, so there were 2006 20.000 visitors from 80 nations. This leads to a contact between people of different cultural regions and conveys it to overthrow inter-ethnic stereotypes.

Contrary to other international festivals of this size binds boom not to a commercial sponsor, not only to the ways of advertising be kept free, but also to visitors to protect them from Marketingstragien. Although this is generally considered a good strategy, some in favor of a compromise to reduce the ticket prices.

Environment

In 2004, the boom began a series of projects to be environmentally friendly. This includes the development of toilets that do not require chemical substances, the treatment of wastewater by biotechnology, the use of wind and solar energy, recycling and the supply of cleaning kits (including pocket ashtrays and rubbish bags ). In March 2010, the environmental program of the United Nations invited the festival to the project United Nations Music & Environmental Initiative ( M & E).
