The almost legendary, demanding Quetzal Trail connects from here two parallel valleys, where is the one Bajo Boquete, Cerro Punta, on the other. Good 2500 hikers have made this tour in 2002; over 80 % of which were Panamanians. As the name suggests, is here the chance to encounter in the cloud forest on the famous quetzal bird. According to government plans, both valleys are now to be connected by a road. The official goal is the promotion of tourism. The brother of the president could thus take a free connection of his large estates to a good road. For nature lovers, the area in mid- August 2003 collected more than 60,000 signatures against this project because the previously untouched cloud forest is one of the few places of refuge of the Quetzal and thus one of the main attractions of the area.

In the vicinity of Bajo Boquete, in the town of Caldera, about 15 minutes south on the road to Davíd, are the natural hot springs of Las Salinas. They are privately owned, but can be visited for a small fee. Right next to the chilly river Caldera, which runs through the district flows.
