Border Protection Corps

The Corps of Border Guards ( pl. corpus Ochrony Pogranicza, LAD ) was a Polish military formation, founded in 1924, which should protect against a possible Soviet attack the eastern borders of Poland. It was part of the Polish Army, but was commanded by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The LAD consisted of six brigades with a total of 20,000 men, a big part of Ukrainian, Belarusian and German origin. There were practically the only units that contributed to advancing from the September 17, 1939 Soviet troops resistance.
