Boris Kolker

Boris Kolker ( born July 15, 1939 in Tiraspol, Moldavian SSR ) is a language teacher, translator, esperantist and was co-founder of the national Esperanto movement in the Soviet Union. In 1985 he was awarded the Institute of Linguistics of the Soviet Academy of Sciences with a doctorate. In 1993 he moved to the United States.

Life

Boris Kolker learned Esperanto in 1957. He is the author of three textbooks for students of different language levels Esperanto and wrote a number of articles on issues of interlinguistics. Due to the popularity of his book Vojaĝo en Esperanto - lando (traveling at the Esperanto -Land), which can serve both as an Esperanto course for advanced as well as an introduction to the Esperanto culture, he is many Esperanto learners well known.

Kolker is a member of the Academy of Esperanto, an honorary member of the Universal Esperanto Association and one of the editors of the monthly magazine in Esperanto " Monato " ( " month "). In Russia, he conducted a correspondence course with about 900 graduates. At universities in San Francisco and Hartford, he also taught Esperanto. Now he runs an International Esperanto advanced correspondence course and is Vice President of the Examination Committee of the International Esperanto Association of Teachers ( ILEI ). At various times he was a member of the Committee of the Universal Esperanto Association. On various Esperanto World Congresses, lecturing and in 2000 he was responsible for the main theme of the 85th World Congress in Tel - Aviv.
