Boris Lisunov

Boris Pavlovich Lissunow (Russian Борис Павлович Лисунов, scientific transliteration Boris Pavlovich Lisunov; * 1898, † 1946) was a Soviet aircraft designer. In almost all other sources of the surname Lisunow is written.

Lissunows stand-out performance is the conversion of the Douglas DC-3 in the license model PS -84, which was designated as of 1942 Lissunow Li -2, and the subsequent support of series production. He traveled to the preparation for this 1936 in the Douglas works in Santa Monica / California and remained there for over a year to study the operations of the local production.

Main work was the renumbering of imperial to metric dimensions. This he did with Vladimir Mikhailovich Mjassischtschew, however, was the victim of the 1938-1940 wave of purges in the USSR and was imprisoned.
