Boris Živković

Boris Zivkovic [ bɔris ʒiʋkɔʋitɕ ] (* 15 November 1975 in Živinice ) is a former Croatian football player.

Career

Zivkovic came over NK Hrvatski Dragovoljac, NK Marsonia Slavonski Brod and FK Sarajevo 1997 to Bayer 04 Leverkusen. With Leverkusen, he was runner-up three times and reached the 2002 UEFA Champions League final and the DFB Cup final. In the same year he participated with the Croatian national team at the 2002 World Cup.

In 2003 he had to, even though he wanted to stay, Bayer Leverkusen leave because the club wanted to save money. Then, the defender moved to Portsmouth in the English Premier League. Half a year later, he returned to the Bundesliga for VfB Stuttgart. There, the former captain of the Croatian national team was hardly used because he was thrown back by injuries over again.

In January 2006 he was loaned out to 1 FC Köln 2005/ 06 from VfB Stuttgart until the end of the season. At the beginning of the season 2006/ 07 he moved back to Croatia for first division club HNK Hajduk Split. In the season 2006/ 07 national team coach Slaven Bilic took him back into the team. In 2009, he ended his athletic career, after he had become without a club.
