Borja Golán

Borja Golan ( born January 6, 1983 in Santiago de Compostela ) is a Spanish squash players. He is currently a world ranking fifth.

Life

Borja Golan married on June 22, 2013 in Santa María de Sar his longtime girlfriend Chelo Suárez.

Career

Borja Golan began his professional career in 2002 and was placed in December 2003 among the top 50 in the world rankings. In 2007 he broke the Top 20, before he reached his tenth place with the time being best career placement in April 2009. Just before he retired, however, in the final of a PSA tournament in Bogota against David Palmer a serious injury to his right knee, which is why he had to pause for more than nine months. It was not until 2012, he was able to re-establish itself in the top 20 in the world rankings. Throughout his career, he twice reached the final of the European Championship, but lost each of 2006 compared Grégory Gaultier and 2012 against Olli Tuominen. With the Spanish national team, he took in 1999, 2005, 2007 and 2011 at the world championships. His best finish at a World Cup was reaching the quarter- finals 2012 in Doha. In November and December 2013 he advanced in the world rankings prior to the ranks eight and seven, which he set a new record. In the Hong Kong Squash Open 2013, he moved first into the finals of a tournament, the World Series. In February and April 2014 he set a new record by finishing in sixth and five in the world rankings.
