Bōsō Peninsula

Geographical location

The Boso Peninsula (房 総 半岛jap, Boso Hanto ) is a peninsula in Chiba Prefecture on the Japanese island of Honshu. It forms the eastern side of Tokyo Bay, separating it from the Pacific Ocean.

Etymology

The name and Kanji letters of the peninsula was composed of the former province of Japan that were here: Awa, also Boshu (房 州) called, delivered the first kanji, Kazusa and Shimousa, both together after their predecessors province Fusa also Soshu (総 州 ), called the second.

Geography

The largest part of the peninsula consists of the Boso Hill Country (房 総 丘陵, Boso - kyūryō ), its highest elevation of Atago -yama with 408.2 m. The Tokyo Wan Aqua -Line, a combination of bridge and tunnel across the Tokyo Bay, connects Kisarazu and the city of Kawasaki in Kanagawa Prefecture.
