Botkuny

Botkuny ( German Butt Kuhnen, 1938-1945 Bodenhausen ) is a place in the Polish Warmian -Masurian and belongs to the urban and rural community Gołdap ( Goldap ) in Gołdapski powiat ( county Goldap ).

Geographical location

Botkuny located in the northeast of Warmia and Mazury, a few kilometers south of the border with Russia. Until the county seat Gołdap, the official seat of the city and is also the rural community, it is three kilometers. Through the village runs the province road 651 in an easterly direction along the Romincka Forest (Polish: Puszcza Romincka ). City consumption forming two side streets of Górne ( Gurnen ) or Janowo ( Eckberg ).

A rail link no longer exists since 1999 (passenger ) or 2002 ( freight), as the PKP railway line was 41 set by Elk ( Lyck ) about Olecko ( Treuburg ) to Gołdap inoperative. Before 1945, the place was also a railway station on the railway line from Goldap about Tollmingkehmen ( 1938-1946 Toll Mingen, today Russian: Chistye Prudy ) to Gumbinnen (Russian: Gusev ).

History

The former Butt Kuhnen was incorporated as a rural community in 1874 in the District mill Goldap, who belonged to the circle Goldap in the district of the Prussian province of East Prussia Gumbinnen. In 1910 854 residents were registered in Butt Kuhnen. Their number decreased to 1933 to 805 in 1939 and was already back 833

On June 3, 1938 Butt Kuhnen was renamed for political- ideological reasons, " Bodenhausen ". On July 25, 1939, the town District village and thus its name to the former District mill Goldap.

In consequence of the Second World War Bodenhausen was assigned as Botkuny Poland and received the Polish name " Botkuny ". 1975-1998 Botkuny belongs to the Province of Suwalki. Today the place is a mayor's office (Polish: sołectwo ) within the network of urban and rural community Gołdap in powiat Gołdapski of Warmia and Mazury. 2010 had 266 inhabitants of the village.

The municipality Bodenhausen was 1939-1945 in the renaming of the existing since 1874 Amtsbezirks mill Goldap. In the District six municipalities were incorporated to 1945:

Butt Kuhnen and Bodenhausen was the parish in the parish of Old Church in Goldap before 1945 and belonged to the church district Goldap in the ecclesiastical province of East Prussia the Church of the Old Prussian Union. Even today Botkuny belongs to Gołdap, which is now a branch church of Suwalki ( Suwalki ) in the Diocese of the Evangelical - Augsburg Church Mazury in Poland.

The Catholic population of Butt Kuhnen / Bodenhausen were the parish before 1945 to Goldap. This has remained so: The Parish Gołdap is the Dean Gołdap of the Catholic Church in Poland assigned to the diocese of Elk it belongs.
