Bouchalès

Bouchalès is an ancient red wine grape that is grown in Aquitaine in the wine region of Bordeaux and in the winegrowing region Sud -Ouest in the south west of France. In 1988, an area under vines of 487 acres was filed after the statistics of 1958 still reported a backlog of 4,973 hectares.

The red wines have a low alcohol content, pronounced tannins (tannins ) and are deep red when fully ripe.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In the ampelography the habit is described as follows:

The grape ripens Bouchalès about 20 - 25 days after Chasselas and thus one of the varieties of the late second maturation period ( see the section in the article vine ). It is valid for a vine internationally as late maturing. The variety shall be deemed profitable, however, requires very warm locations. In the southwest of France they seldom come to full maturity.
