The Bourda Cricket Ground is the second largest sports facility in Guyana and is located in the capital George Town in the district of Bourda. It lies below sea level and is therefore surrounded by a moat.

Cricket

" Bourda " is a cricket stadium. The Cricket Team of Guyana and the West Indies cricket team wear here sometimes from home games. It is home to the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC ). The first encounter took into account the Georgetown Cricket Club and the team from Trinidad.

" Bourda " is the only South African Test Cricket Stadium. From 21 to September 26, 1930 came together for the first Test match England and the West Indies. The last date of 30 Test Match met from 31 March to 4 April 2005, the West Indies to South Africa.

The first of the ten so far One Day International matches took place on 30 March 1988. The West Indies played against Pakistan. Between the West Indies and Zimbabwe, the date last ODI match was fought on May 7, 2006.

In 1979 came during a World Series match looting in the pavilion. The players looked in their cabins protection.

With the opening of the Providence Stadium, the " Bourda " lost its meaning. The government, however, that here would continue first-class cricket takes place.

Football

At the World Caribbean Cup 2007 matches in the second qualifying round, group H were held in Bourda.

Other Events

Sometimes the sports complex is used for cultural events. So come, for example, DJs in the Bourda Cricket Ground.
