Bow tie

The bow tie, also loop ( tie loop ) or colloquially fly in Austria also Mascherl and Switzerland also tie (not to be confused with the West German meaning of this word ) called, is a cloth band that is worn around the collar ( unlike the scarf ) and front by means of loop nodes ( unlike the long necktie ) is bound.

History and Use

Although older than the now much more widespread tie, the bow tie has lost much of its importance over the clothing history. Originally worn by distinguished gentlemen loops were much bigger until they were reduced to about 1870 today known compact format.

Material and node
