Bowater

The Group Resolute Forest Products (formerly Bowater Inc.) was created from the merger of Bowater Inc. and Abitibi -Consolidated from the United States with headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina is a leading producer of newsprint and other paper products.

Bowater has 12 paper mills in the United States, Canada and South Korea and 12 North American sawmills. The Group owns over 565,000 hectares of forest in the United States and Canada and the wood right to more than 12 million acres in the Canadian forests. Currently, the company employs 8,100 people and had sales of approximately 2.7 billion euros in fiscal 2004.

The product range consists largely of paper for newspapers and magazines. In addition, Bowater still sells pulp to other paper manufacturers and wood products from its sawmills. Bowater is not only a producer, but also one of the largest recyclers of newspapers and magazine papers.

Merger with Abitibi -Consolidated

On 29 January 2007, the companies Bowater and Abitibi -Consolidated announced their merger to the new company AbitibiBowater Inc. The merger of the two companies resulted in the third largest paper producer in North America and the eighth largest in the world. The company headquarters is Montreal, Canada be. On 1 July 2012, the company in Resolute Forest Products has been renamed.
