Bozas

Bozas is a commune of 243 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in Ardèche, in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Haut- Vivarais, bordering the neighboring municipalities of Saint- Félicien and Saint-Victor. The nearest major town is Tournon -sur -Rhône 14 kilometers away. The rivers Doux and Daronne traverse the municipality.

History

From the 12th century the city was under the suzerainty of the Bosa family. Later they were replaced by the Mont Morin. In the 17th century, the territory of the present municipality was expanded to Mark County, in favor of the expansion of the village. From the 13th to the 16th century, a priory was in place. On January 18, 1985, the name of the village of Bosa, the name of the former feudal lords, was changed to Bozas.

Culture and sights

Bozas is a village with a well preserved and picturesque town center. The community for the ancient remains of the castle as well as the festivals house of NaSSAs family is known. The city wall, the Mur de Boze, from the 19th century is 1700 meters long, making it one of the largest in the region. The local church is also from the 19th century. The highest point of the municipality is the Bois Madame with 808 meters, from which one has a beautiful view over the village.
