Brandenburglied

Märkische Heath, Mark Brandenburg sand ( also commonly referred to as märkische heath or walkways high, you red eagle ) is the title of a home -based walking and marching song of the 1920s and 1930s and the unofficial national anthem of the State of Brandenburg.

Formation

The song was sealed, according to Gustav Büchsenschütz (1902-1996) at Ascension, May 10, 1923 by himself and composed. The idea for the song came to him as a member of the traveling bird movement with a stay at the Youth Hostel of New Vehlefanz. Supposedly he concealed his authorship of the young people first, to test how it depended on them. A memorial stone there today about it.

Respondents are asked in an interview Margaret Seidel from Schoeneiche reported, however, that the text has been sealed together by a youth group of the German Bismarck in Berlin -Friedrichshain. Büchsenschütz have in the youth group " Friedrich Wilhelm von Seydlitz " only the melody contributed. Their last chorus sequence is similar to the Russian workers' song from 1895: Smelo, Tovarishchi, w Nogu ( brothers, to the sun, to freedom ).

Use in the nationalist movement

As early as 1930 can be found in the songbook for Queen Luise -Bund, the women's organization of front-line soldiers German Stahlhelm, the song with the different lines of text: " Brandenburg allwege - Be our watchword - The swastika loyalty - and faithful to black -white-red - Healing also you, my Germany - how long do you sleep for? - We will stand with the hassles - throw off the yoke of slavery - walks up, you red eagle - and shake your robe - The inward and the outward enemies -. Pastime from our German land " Since the 1920s Büchsenschütz had claims to ethnic - set nationally, and his own authorship of the altered text would be plausible according to Ch Jansen (TU- Berlin). Also, the historian Daniel Siemens an estimated Büchsenschütz 1923 've stuck deep in the " nationalist milieu". Starting in 1933, the song was sung partly in this swastika version, in the Wehrmacht, SS, SA and HJ and reprinted in People's songbooks. Büchsenschütz designated 1934 the song in the first edition of the published by the NSDAP Gauleiter Wilhelm Kube Brandenburg books as "Song of the Nazi uprising " and wrote:

Anthem in Brandenburg

In the GDR, the song was undesirable because of its importance in the era of National Socialism from 1952 possibly because since the local government reform with the abolition of the countries and the creation of districts of the state of Brandenburg no longer existed.

In the Federal Republic, counted " Märkische Heide" how many old marching songs to songs of the Bundeswehr. In October 1990, it was sung at the inaugural session of the first Brandenburg Landtag. Media

In the Nazi era, there were several record releases with a brass music arrangement by Paul Lincke, presented by bands and choirs of the SA and the SS Leibstandarte " Adolf Hitler", including a " Telefunken " single on which this song on the back of the Horst- Wessel - song was pressed.

After 1945, the märkische Heath belonged to the repertoire of Heino and appeared in 1977 on an LP of former soldiers of the Waffen- SS choir and a military band on double LP of the Bundeswehr Army Band.

The neo-Nazi label " Oak Rec " presents a title märkische Heath on "Power & Honor - ... Against The subhuman " together with song names like " Volkssturm 92 ", " Adolf Hitler ", " Greater Germany ", " The Eternal Jew " and " Ali bastard ".

Controversies

2008 demanded sections of the left again to stop using the song. Then called the Brandenburg SPD General Secretary Klaus Ness the requirement "to the far-fetched ", the Brandenburg CDU parliamentary leader Thomas Lunacek pointed out that the text " politically innocuous " is. Manfred Stolpe (SPD) and interior minister of Brandenburg (CDU ) warned of a denigration of the Mark Brandenburg Heath as " Nazi - song."
