Branisella

Branisella boliviana is a fossil primate from South America.

Branisella is the oldest known representative of the New World monkeys, the only currently living in America primate group ( with the exception of humans ). The finds, for the most part jawbone and teeth, comes from a reference in Bolivia and in the Upper Oligocene dated ( before about 26 million years ago).

For all the meagerness is evident from the structure of the teeth, that the New World monkeys are not from the earlier native to America Omomyidae - one the tarsiers -like extinct primate family - developed, but are ancestrally form the sister group of the Old World monkeys and not exactly known way - probably on driftwood sailing - had crossed the Atlantic.
