Branko Vukelić

Branko Vukelić ( born January 12, 1958 in Karlovac, † May 3, 2013 ) was a Croatian politician ( HDZ). He was successively economic and defense minister in the government of Croatia.

Life

Vukelić closed in 1981 to study at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and computer science from the University of Zagreb. From 1991 to 1997 he was CEO of Karlovac branch of the oil company INA.

In his home city of Karlovac in 1993 he was a member of the city council, then mayor from 1997 to 2001, and then again a member of the City Council. He was from December 2003 to January 2008 and Minister of Economic Affairs in connection to December 2010 Minister of Defence of Croatia. After that, he was a deputy in the Sabor, the Croatian parliament.

End of February 2013 came from Vukelić after 22 years of party membership from the HDZ. He criticized the party leadership would lead the party in the wrong direction and undermines the inner-party democracy.

Branko Vukelić died at the age of 55 from pancreatic cancer. He was married and had a son.
