Brazilian Intelligence Agency

Agência Brasileira de Inteligência ( ABIN ) is the intelligence of Brazil.

The duties of the Secret Service are: Defence of internal espionage, counterterrorism, procurement of information in foreign countries, in crises and potential hazards in order to protect citizens.

It is headquartered in Brasília.

The Brazilian intelligence is controlled by the President of the country. He has also the highest competence and decision-making powers over the Secret Service.

The ABIN was founded on December 7, 1999 as the successor of various, partly the military under their predecessors, these included the founded in 1964 Serviço Nacional de Informações (SNI), as well as the only existing from 1990 to 1994 Secretaria de Assuntos Estratégicos (SAE ).
