Bream Head

Geographical location

Bream Head is a promontory on the east coast of the Northland Region of the North Island of New Zealand. It forms the end of a 30 km long peninsula and extends southeast of Whangarei in the Pacific. The Hen and Chickens Islands lie about 12 miles off the peninsula in the sea.

On Bream Head is a 490 m high rock, the remains of an andesitic volcano from the Miocene. The peninsula forms the northern part of the Bream Bay and protects the outer part of the entrance to Whangarei Harbour.

North joins the headland of the long sandy beach at Ocean Beach, to get the access is possible. North of Bream Head Bream are two small Islands.
