Brebowbach

The Brebowbach is a creek in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald.

The Brebowbach starts in the area Steinfurth the community Karlburg near the watershed between Peene and the river Peene. From there it flows to the northeast, crosses the district Buddenhagen and then turns east to the territory of the municipality Zemitz where it passes through a narrow meadow valley and finally north of the Bauer Bergs empties into the river Peene.

In a document of the Bishop Konrad I of Pomerania from the year 1168 the creek was mentioned under the name " Bebroa ". The bishop confirmed to the monastery Rough owning a water mill on the flow. At the time of the Swedish land survey of Western Pomerania in the 17th century and also in mapping the landscape by the Prussian authorities in 1835 were located in the vicinity of Brebowbachs extensive swampy forests.

The creek is located in the FFH area " Ostvorpommersche forest landscape with Brebowbach ". Here Desmoulins' whorl snail, stream and river lamprey and otter and beaver are present.
