The Brest Airport (Russian Аэропорт " Брест ") ( IATA code: BQT, ICAO code: UMBB ) is an international airport in Belarus. The airport is located 12 km east of Brest and is located in the area of ​​Selsawets pro's in Brest Raion in the Breszkaja Woblasz.

History

The construction of the new airport near Brest was decided at the beginning of the 70s. The plan was the establishment of the modern airport complexes in the USSR. The old and still originating from Polish military airfield times of Brest was built after the Second World War to a civilian airport and was used in addition to the transportation of passengers and cargo and for agricultural purposes. In 1968, the old airport operated 11 scheduled flights per day. In the era of jet aircraft of the old airport of Brest was able to receive only machines with propeller turbines, and his days were numbered.

On July 30, 1976 landed in the new airport, the first passenger aircraft with jet engines of the type Tupolev Tu- 134A.

The Brest airport is one of the seven international airports of Belarus.
