Brestovăț

Brestovăţ (Romanian Brusturi ( 1924-1925 ), German Brestowatz, Hungarian - Aga Temes, Serbian Cyrillic Брестовац ) is a municipality in Timiş, Banat, Romania. The municipality includes the villages next to Brestovăţ Coşarii, Hodos, Lucareţ and TES.

Brestovăţ located in the northeast of the circle Timiş, close to the border with the county of Arad.

History

The first documentary mention of Brestowetz falls in the year 1440 as the place to the castle Soimos belonged. 1583 to let down Romanians from Transylvania. During the Turkish wars in the 17th century Aga was how the place was under Hungarian rule, destroyed and devastated. Between 1717 and 1722 Prestovaz was rebuilt. At that time, there were 113 Serbian families. 1797 settled Hungarians and Slovaks. 1828 came another Hungarian families. 1847 German also were settled. From 1924 to 1925 it was known as Brusturi. Since 1925, the official name Brestovăţ.

According to population structure, there are two places of worship in Brestowatz, the Catholic and the Orthodox. The Catholic parish was founded in 1847, the Romanian Orthodox 1927.
