Breton Sound

The Breton Sound is a sound in the Gulf of Mexico off the southeast coast of the U.S. state of Louisiana.

The sea area is bounded on the north by the Biloxi State Wildlife Management Area, the west and southwest by the Plaquemines Parish and the Delta National Wildlife Refuge with the muzzle landscape of river deltas of the Mississippi. In the northeast of Sound is bounded by the Chandeleur Islands to the Breton Islands, which at the Breton National Wildlife Refuge and include the Chandeleur Sound.

End of August 2005, Hurricane Katrina crossed the territory before he reached the coast at Pearlington, Mississippi. End of April 2010 included the Breton Islands for the first land area which was achieved from the injury caused by the sinking of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
