Brian Jungen

Brian Young ( born April 29, 1970 in Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada ) is a Canadian artist with Swiss and Indian roots. He attracted international attention with a series of masks ( "Prototype for New Understanding " ), reminiscent of cult objects of North American Indians and consisted of shredded Nike sneakers.

Life and achievements

Brian Jungen was born in 1970 as son of a coming of Dunne -za Indians mother and a Swiss father in Canada. In 1992 he completed his studies at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver and then joined as an artist in appearance. With his collection of sneakers works he could attract attention at the time. In 2002 he received for his services the Sobey Art Award, the highest honor awarded in Canadian Award for young artists.
