Brian Mikkelsen

Brian Arthur Mikkelsen ( born January 31, 1966 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish politician of the Conservative People's Party. He sits since 1994 as a deputy in the Folketing since June, 2012, he is Chairman of the Conservative Group.

Mikkelsen studied 1986-1994 Political Science at the University of Copenhagen, then he got a seat in parliament. From November 2001 he was Minister of Culture in the Cabinet of Anders Fogh Rasmussen. During his tenure, he has repeatedly drawn attention to themselves by decidedly conservative views and attracted criticism. At his suggestion Denmark's cultural canon was established in 2006. Especially he was active in sports, including as a member of the international anti - doping commission, the second he was chairman from late 2005 to late 2006.

In September 2008 he moved as a result of the withdrawal of party leader Bendt Bendtsen the Justice Department, whose previous boss Lene Espersen took over both the party leadership and the Ministry of Economic Affairs of Bendtsen. Between 23 February 2010 to October 3, 2011 Mikkelsen had held the post of economy minister.
