Brilliance BS4 (2007-2013)

The Brilliance BS4 or Brilliance M2 is a car from the Chinese manufacturer Brilliance China Auto, which should be introduced in the course of 2007 on the German market. The launch has been postponed to the autumn of 2008 due to necessary repairs. The car should then offer better values ​​in a crash test revision. However, the ADAC crash test in March 2009, the vehicle was not convincing and was due to lack of safety features no stars out of five ( according to the old standard (until 2009) would have the BS4 3 star rating ). The drive is undertaken here by a Mitsubishi four-cylinder in-line engine with 1.6 or 1.8 liter displacement, which provides 74 kW or 100 kW (101 and 136 hp). A self-developed 1.8-liter turbocharged petrol engine should make 125 kW ( 170 hp) and is already available in China. A diesel engine for the European market is in development. In North Korea, the BS4 is mounted as a CKD kit and under the name Pyeonghwa Huiparam II, briefly as Pyeonghwa Junma sold. In China, the BS4 bears the names ZhongHua Junjie and ZhongHua Zunchi. As an import model for the Middle East, the model ZhongHua Brilliance M3 is named.

While the Turbo model is only available with a four -speed automatic, the base engine is only available with a manual five-speed gearbox.

On the one hand the BS4 with quite extensive features such as electrically adjustable leather seats, climate control, park distance control and similar customers, on the other hand is now in the middle class already mandatory ESP not available.

According to the manufacturer, the launch was scheduled for early October 2008. A station wagon variant was planned for the first quarter of 2009.

In Egypt, the model is produced as Brilliance Splendor at the BMW plant the Bavarian Auto Manufacturing Company. The model is available, however, only with the 1.6 liter engine Mitsubishi. The units produced in Egypt are two millimeters shorter than the Chinese original and are only offered with a manual 5 -speed transmission. For the safety standard features include anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution and an electronic differential lock, depending on a driver and passenger airbags as well as side impact protection, which was developed by BMW for the Brilliance Galena.
