The Brilon station city (also known as City Station ) is one of four in-service passenger stations in the North Rhine- Westphalian city of Brilon. It is centrally located to downtown Brilon. The former goods shed of the railway station is a listed building.
History
The Brilon city station was taken on December 1, 1898 the first section of Möhne rollercoaster of Belecke to Brilon by the Westphalian Provincial Railroad (WLE ) in operation. Exactly one year later the extension of Belecke to Soest.
On April 1, 1901, the commissioning of the leg Buren Brilon - Wald was the Almetalbahn. This station was the Brilon city railway station separation of two railway lines.
The regularly scheduled passenger services on the Mohne rollercoaster ended on September 26, 1958 between Belecke and Brilon. Between Brilon and Heidberg the freight was still operated until 28 February 1979. The tracks were dismantled in the following year.
On the route of Brilon Wald on Brilon city, Thülen, Alme and Buren to Paderborn Hbf passenger on September 29, was stopped in 1974. The transport of goods between Brilon Wald and Egger in Brilon was preserved and is still operated regularly today.
Since 1981 takes place in the summer months, the museum rail instead of on the section Brilon City Buren ( Westphalia ) vineyard. Because of the lack of the platform since 2008 in Brilon city the trains of the heritage railway run since then only until Thülen.
In 2007, the tracks between Brilon Wald Brilon and Egger have been renovated since the company Egger has a greater need for an operation and rehabilitation of the railroad was a condition for expanding the site Brilon.
In 2008, the tracks were then 1 and 4-8 demolished in Brilon station town. On the former track surfaces, the shopping center was " Brilon arcades ". All that remains are only two tracks in Brilon city.
The timetable change 2011/2012 on 11 December 2011, the rail passenger transport ( regional rail ) was recorded on the town Brilon Brilon - Wald section again. The realization had previously been postponed several times. End of 2008, the Ministry of Construction and Transport of North Rhine -Westphalia has agreed to take up the Brilon station town in the infrastructure financing plan, under the condition that the purpose Ruhr -Lippe ( ZRL ) passenger rail transport for railway from Brilon Wald to Brilon city also ordered. The ZRL therefore decided on 23 June 2009 to resume scheduled passenger rail transport on that section the timetable change in December 2011.
On December 10, 2011 went on the stretch between Brilon Wald and Brilon city for the first time in over 30 years, a passenger train again. Since then, the trains run Monday to Friday, all day from and to Dortmund, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays and from Bestwig and Korbach.
Track systems
Until decommissioning in 2008 the town Brilon station had extensive trackage. Are left of the once extensive trackage only one platform track (track 2 ) and a Platform loose track ( track 3 ), on which freight trains can be parked.
With the reactivation of the station Brilon city accessible platform was built. Simultaneously, a new central bus station was built.

Since 11 December 2011, the DB Regio NRW operates again with the distance of Brilon Wald to Brilon city. Brilon has since served by two lines:
- The Dortmund -Sauerland -Express ( RE 57, KBS 435) runs from Dortmund Hbf - partly by Hagen Hbf - to Bestwig, where it is divided and one part each to Winterberg and travels to Brilon Wald. From there he goes on to Brilon city, Fridays and at the weekend to Willingen and partly on the way to Korbach. Often, however, it only begins in Bestwig and moves from there to Brilon city or Willingen. On weekends, he runs every two hours to Brilon city. Since the Express from Monday to Friday only runs in the morning and in the afternoon or evening, is there (in some cases even on weekends ) additional trains in the meantime by Brilon city to Brilon Wald. The travel time to / from Korbach is a regional train usually less than an hour, the Regional Express about three quarters of an hour. After Brilon city one is eight minutes go.
