Brit Shalom (political organization)

Brit Shalom (Hebrew: ברית שלום; Arab تحالف السلام Taḥāluf As-Salam, German " covenant of peace " ) was a political organization in Palestine and later in Israel. It was founded by a group of Central and Western European intellectuals who set out in 1925 to promote a Jewish-Arab agreement to the task. It was to them a matter of finding a political scheme that should allow a fair coexistence between Jews and Arabs. The aim of Zionism, the creation of a free, culturally autonomous, their own life forms evolving Jewish community, should not be abandoned.

Co-founders were Gershom Scholem, Martin Buber, Arthur Ruppin, Hugo Bergmann, Hans Kohn, Samuel Hugo Bergman, Ernst Simon, Robert Weltsch, Yehoshua Radler - Feldman Ha - Talmi and Yaakov Yonathan Thon.
