British Forces Gibraltar

The British Forces Gibraltar is a branches of the armed force of cross- dressing in the British armed forces in the crown colony of Gibraltar.

Gibraltar is an important base of the United Kingdom at the western entrance of the Mediterranean, which is directly used because of its climate and its mountainous seaside location as a training ground of the British armed forces.

Composition

The Association shall be composed of

  • HQ British Forces Gibraltar plus Joint Provost and Security Unit
  • Royal Gibraltar Regiment of the Army
  • Royal Navy Gibraltar Squadron consisting of two patrol boats of the Scimitar class, HMS Scimitar and HMS Sabre
  • RAF Gibraltar, which consists of only one airfield commander
  • Gibraltar Defence Police

Royal Gibraltar Regiment

The Royal Gibraltar Regiment is a battalion of light infantry, which was erected in 1958. Originally a unit of the Territorial Army, it was integrated into the Regular Army after a partial withdrawal of the British troops in 1991.

The battalion is divided into Thomson 's Battery (HQ plus an artillery troops ) and three companies, the G- and I- Company for Regular Army belong, while the B Company is provided by the Territorial Army.

In 1999, the unit the status of " Royal Regiment " award, in March 2001 the Regiment conducted its first watchkeeping at Buckingham Palace. It is under the Queen's Division.
