Brockman 4 Mine

P2

The Brockman 4 mine is an iron ore mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, 60 kilometers north- west of Tom Price. The mine is located close to the existing Brockman mine, and she was commissioned in 2010.

The mine is owned by Rio Tinto Group and is one of the 13 iron ore mines of this mining company in the Pilbara.

The Hamersley Range, where the mine is located, contains 80 % of all iron ore deposits of Australia and is one of the largest in the world.

Overview

Brockman 4 is approximately 25 km south of the Brockman 2 mine. This mine, whose construction cost U.S. 1.52 billion is to annually produce 22 million tonnes of iron ore a position, which means a doubling of capacity by 2012. This should help the production target of 220 million tonnes of iron ore to increase to 330 million.

The ore body is about 15 km long, more than 3 km wide and includes the hills in the south of Boolgeeda Creek Valley. The reduction is carried out with 15 Komatsu 830E trucks. The iron ore is in the mine as iron ore pellets ( < 31.5 mm,> 6 mm) and iron ore fines (<6 mm ) were prepared. There is a primary crusher, two secondary crushers, a building for six times the sifting and iron ore - bearing capacity for 1.2 million tonnes. Soaked iron ore is loaded onto trains and transported to the Hamersley & Robe River Railway to the coast, where it is loaded onto ships.

The workers of the mine are in the 2- week change in and out flew.

Brockman 4 has an estimated production life of 20 years. It was officially opened on 2 September 2010. Rio Tinto took another AUD 1.24 billion in early December 2010 to expand the mine and also to develop the project Western Turner Syncline, to expand the Pilara production to 283 million tonnes until late 2013. This expansion would also become the second largest mine of Rio Tinto in the Pilbara Brockman 4.
