Features

The 28 cm long Orpheusbülbül is a gray - brown bird with brown cheeks and a long tail, the loud through his, chirping song strikes.

Occurrence

The distribution area extends from the Russian Far East over Northeast China, Korea, Japan and Taiwan to the Philippines Babuyan Islands, Batantes islands and Luzon. The bird pulls in huge flocks in the wintering areas. Due to changes in agriculture of Orpheusbülbül wintered far north as possible before decades. While he was a resident of the forest earlier, the Orpheusbülbül is now also available in rural and urban environments.

Behavior

In summer the Orpheusbülbül feeds mainly on insects, in autumn and winter of fruits and seeds, so it is considered in Japan as an agricultural pest.
