Geography

Browns Valley is located on the banks of Little Minnesota River, between the north end of Big Stone Lake and the southern end of Lake Traverse, which is separated from the Little Minnesota River by a low and narrow continental divide. The place and the two lakes are situated in the so-called Traverse Gap, the bed of the former glacial River Warren, once a natural outflow of Lake Agassiz.
