Bruce Mapes

Bruce Mapes (* August 16, 1901, † February 18, 1961 ) was an American figure skater.

In 1913 the figure skating jump flip was known by his last name, but it is not certain whether Mapes was its inventor. In the 1920s, however, he invented the toe loop that bears his surname today in artistic roller skating. Later Mapes worked at NBC in New York and lived at the time of his death in Fair Haven, New Jersey.
