History

The Brühl station was opened by the Bonn- Cölner Railway (BCE ) on February 15, 1844 on the occasion of the visit of the British Queen Victoria, and was from the beginning the most important intermediate stop between Cologne and Bonn. The station building on the first single track was built according to plans by Johann Peter Weyer in the line of sight of the castle Augustus castle. Since the track led to a large extent on manorial lands, could make their influence felt here the royal family.

Already in 1869 a second track was built, the passenger station received a central platform. The freight station was at that time just to the north on the east side of the track.

In the years 1910-1913 there was an extensive redesign of the railway facilities in Brühl. In particular, the elimination of crossings with other modes of transport, the route was moved to a up to four meters high dam. The passenger station was on both sides of the track each one siding and two island platforms between the main and siding, which can be reached via an underpass. Since there was no more room for the goods station, he was moved further north on the west side of the track. Between the two parts of the station cross the track Cologne - Bonn circular paths was performed with a bridge over the track and connected by Vochem forth to the new freight depot.

When train wreck of Brühl nine people on February 6, 2000 killed and 149 more were injured when a train from the north on the opposite track imports coming too fast into the eastern side track and derailed. While the front part of the train plunged down the embankment and slammed into a house, the rear part was pressed across the platform against a pillar of the platform roof. To the misfortune and the design of the station from two spatially separated parts and the lack of inter- as well as exit signal for the opposite direction on the main track through the opposite direction has helped. During clean up the eastern siding has been completely removed, shortened the platform and built on the east side of a noise barrier. As part of the modernization campaign in NRW 2006, access was expanded to the platform tunnels and provided the stairs with stair lifts.

2013 here a scene of private detectives was filmed in action.
