Bruno Berner

Bruno Berner ( born November 21, 1977 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss football player.

The defender Bruno Berner, a trained banker, his professional footballer career began in 1997 when Grasshopper Club Zurich. In 2002 he went to Germany in the 2nd Bundesliga and played at SC Freiburg, with whom he was 2003 champion, and thus promotion to the 1st Bundesliga. In 2005 he went back to Switzerland for FC Basel. On 30 January 2007 he moved to Blackburn Rovers in the English Premier League, where he remained until June 2008 signed a contract ( with an option for a further year ). The renewal option was not exercised for the 2008/ 09 season. He then moved to Leicester City.

Berner played from 2001 to 2004 and 16 times for the Swiss national football team, and took her part in the 2004 European Cup in Portugal. He made his international debut on 15 August 2001 in a 2-1 away win against Austria in Vienna. His most last match he played on 6 June 2004 in the 1-0 home win against Liechtenstein in Zurich.

Since 2012, he coached the U15 Youth FC Zurich.
