Bruno Monti

Bruno Monti ( born June 12, 1930 in Albano Laziale; † August 16, 2011 ) was an Italian cyclist.

Bruno Monti started cycling at AS Roma and won as an amateur 100 victories. In 1952 he started in the Olympic Games in Helsinki and finished in individual road race course 15, together with the team he won silver in the team competition. In the same year he won the Piccolo Giro di Lombardia, the Tour of Lombardy for amateurs, and was second overall in the Giro delle Puglie e Lucania.

1953 Monti was professional. In the same year he won two stages of the Giro d' Italia. During the Giro 1955, he wore two days the Maglia Rosa leader's and finished third in the mountains classification, the following year he was eighth in the Giro Appreciation and 1957 he won a stage again. In 1954 he also had a stage win in the Tour de Suisse.

The UCI Road World Championships 1955 in Frascati Bruno Monti took tenth place. 1956 and 1957 he won the Giro dell'Emilia and in 1957 was second in the Tour of Lombardy. Overall, he competed in two Road World Championships six times in the Giro, twice in the Tour de France, eight times at Milan - Sanremo, once at Paris-Roubaix and seven times in the Tour of Lombardy. Monti stepped back from the 1961 professional cycling.
