Bruno Peyron

Bruno Peyron ( born November 10, 1955) is a sailor and adventurer who with his crew and the giant catamaran Commodore Explorer (ex - Jet Services V by Serge Madec ), Orange and Orange II several world records has established, especially three times the record for the fastest circumnavigation.

1982 and 1986 ersegelte Peyron at the Route du Rhum in second place.

Bruno Peyron is the oldest of three brothers. Loick Peyron is also sailing and stepped to the part in the same races as his older brother; Stéphane Peyron, the youngest of the three, crossed the first windsurfer in 1987 alone the Atlantic Ocean (his windsurfing equipment used later Raphaëla le Gouvello ), surfed almost to the magnetic North Pole and is currently involved in the production of French documentary series Dans la Nature.

Records (selection)

1993/94 Peyron sailed from France in a record time of less than 80 days around the world and thus became the first winner of the Jules Verne Trophy. Alternating with other record sailors succeeded Peyron twice - 2002 and 2005 - around the world to improve their record for the 27,000 nautical miles and the Jules Verne Trophy recapture. The third time he needed for only 50 days 16 hours and 20 minutes; until 2010, the time the third attempt by Franck Cammas on his trimaran Groupama 3 has been undercut by more than 2 days.

On July 6, 2006 Peyron crossed in 4 days, 8 hours, 23 minutes and 54 seconds the Atlantic. He broke the record set by Steve Fossett.

Both records were set, with its giant catamaran Orange II, which is named after the eponymous company. The boat has a 45 m high mast, and is 38 m long.
