Bryan Donkin

Bryan Donkin ( born March 22, 1768 in Sandhoe, Northumberland, † February 27, 1855 ) was an English engineer and inventor.

He was a skilled papermakers and assisted in 1806 Henry Fourdrinier ( 1766-1854 ) to perfect his paper machine. Together with Richard Bacon he patented in 1813 one of the first rotary printing machines. Although the machine has not been successful, was invented by him ink roller of the industry standard. He also improved François Nicolas Appert's invention for preserving food with sealed cans instead of glass and opened in 1812 a canning. From the Society of Arts, he was awarded a gold medal for the invention of a counting machine and a tachometer.
