Kalanchoe manginii

Kalanchoe manginii is a plant of the genus Kalanchoe in the family Crassulaceae ( Crassulaceae ).

Description

Kalanchoe manginii is a creeping dwarf shrub and is up to 40 inches high. The numerous, slender, woody, trailing shoots are bunched. The end of the shoots is set up. The non flowerable shoots are hairy and fluffy possess glands, flowering sized shoots, however, are bald. The seated, very succulent leaves are up to 8 mm thick, glabrous to hairy tiny fluffy, green, obovate to oblong circular and 1 to 3 inches long and 0.6 to 1.5 inches wide. The blade tip is very blunt, narrowed at the base and not amplexicaul. The leaf margin is entire or slightly notched at the top.

The inflorescence is a loose, wenigblütige panicle with leaf buds. The hanging flowers sit at 0.7 to 1 inch long flower stems. The green to reddish green calyx tube is 0.4 to 0.8 millimeters long and ends in egg-shaped, pointed lobes that are 6.5 to 9 millimeters long and 2.4 to 3.5 millimeters wide. The corolla is urn- shaped, red-orange to bright red. The 20 to 25 millimeters long corolla tube has egg-shaped tip with applied tips from 3.5 to 4.5 mm in length and 4.5 to 5 millimeters wide. The stamens are attached near the base of the corolla tube and extend all out of the corolla tube. The anthers are kidney-shaped and about 1.6 millimeters long. The linealischen Nektarschüppchen are 1.8 mm long and wide. The stylus is 14 to 17 millimeters long.

Systematics and distribution

Kalanchoe manginii is widespread in Central Madagascar on dry and rocky slopes at altitudes up to 2000 meters. The first description was in 1912 by Raymond - Hamet and Joseph Marie Henri Alfred Perrier de la Bâthie.

A synonym is Bryophyllum manginii.
