Bu'ale

Bu'aale or Buaale is a town in southern Somalia, lies on the river Juba and is the capital of Jubbada Dhexe region.

Population

Prior to the Somali civil war, the population of Bu'aale was about 35,000, by 2003 it will have grown to about 50,000. This increase is mainly due to the influx of IDPs from other, more severely affected by civil war and crop failures of the country.

Economy

The surroundings of Bu'aale is comparatively fertile because of relatively high rainfall and the location on the Jubba River and therefore provides a significant portion of the spent in the environs foods. The place also serves as a stopover for trade between the state capital Mogadishu and neighboring Kenya.
