Bucksbaum Award

The Bucksbaum Award was instituted in 2000 by the Bucksbaum Family Foundation of Des Moines and the Whitney Museum of American Art. It is awarded in two annual basis. It is advertised for artists who live and work in the United States, and whose work reveals a "unique combination of talent and imagination ." The award, worth $ 100,000 Price offers the world's biggest prize for visual artists. In addition, each winner is invited to present in the next two years, his solo exhibition at the Whitney Museum.

The award is only given to an invited audience of the Whitney Biennial, a talent show in New York City for mostly younger and less well-known American artist. The art prize claims to honor artists who have the potential to leave a lasting impression in the history of the American art world.

The jury is composed of two representatives of the Whitney Museum - line, the current curators of the Whitney Biennial, as well as three independent, changing representatives known art institutions.
