Budapest Strings Chamber Orchestra

The Budapest String Chamber Orchestra is a Hungarian Chamber Orchestra.

History

The orchestra was originally founded in 1977 as a septet of graduates of the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. This eventually developed a sixteen -member string orchestra, which was awarded in 1982 with the first prize at the International Chamber Orchestra Competition in Belgrade. Since 1983, the ensemble performs regularly in the major Hungarian concert halls. 1995 founded the International Haydn Festival in Fertőd. In addition to the standard repertoire for string orchestra plays it mainly works by Hungarian composers such as Béla Bartók and Leó Weiner. In March 2013, the world premiere of Robert Gulyas Nutcracker Variations for Guitar and Strings in Budapest's Palace of Arts was held. In addition, the chamber orchestra played with renowned soloists such as Peter Frankl, Johanna Beisteiner, Irena Count Auer and Stefan Vladar. Numerous photographs were taken, among others, for Hungaroton and Naxos.
